How can you help?

WMI will continue to assist with a wide range of needs and we appreciate our donors for their prayers and financial support to make a difference in peoples’ lives. Following are some ongoing projects that will benefit from your support:

England: Newbold Alumni Fund

The new administration of Newbold College, England, has made some changes in the programs being offered there. They are focused on Theology, Business, and Lifestyle programs to make itthe needs in the world today. WMI is playing a supporting role as the Newbold Alumni and Councilors continue to promote this cause. Newbold is core to the leadership development of Europe. Help build Adventist leaders for tomorrow.

Pacific Islands: PhD Scholarship to AIIAS Philippines

Recommended by AIIAS because of her academic excellence, Naomi Booia, is returning to AIIAS to take her Ph.D. She took her Masters in Religion degree at AIIAS previously, and then returned to her tiny Pacific Island country of Kiribati (Pronounced “KEE-ruh-bas”). She was then hired to teach at Fulton (Adventist) College in Fiji. The leaders of the union were thrilled for her to return to AIIAS to take her PhD. Fulton College has voted a promise to hire her as a professor of Theology once she has completed her PhD. This is a wonderful opportunity to sponsor this talented student with high potential for the future. Please help with the US$7,000 needed to cover tuition and family living expenses for Naomi Booia’s 2nd year. Where else in the world can you get a quality Ph.D. program and living expenses for this price?

Nigeria Church Building

Jos Adventist Medical Center officially opened in the City of Jos, Nigeria in June 2017. The work is growing, but there is an urgent need for an Adventist Church building in the City of Jos, Nigeria to provide for the growing membership and facilities for an elementary school. This will attract young, quality healthcare workers to serve in this rural town. Please help towards the total of $50,000 needed for this project.

India Disaster Relief

Three times in ten months between 2019 and 2020, South India suffered some of the worst cyclones in recent years. It left almost nothing in the coastal area of about 200 square miles. Many houses were damaged, trees were destroyed, the storm surges of water destroyed the fish farms. The saline water destroyed most of the paddy fields and other crops. Then COVID-19 lockdown further devastated the lives of these people. Even after three years, their most urgent needs are food, repairing damaged homes, healthcare to prevent epidemics, and restoring their livelihood. Your help will make a huge difference.

Loma Linda, CA: Afghan Refugee Project

Former ADRA Afghan workers, evacuated because of their association with the West, are being assisted by WMI to settle in the Southern California area. As the evacuee families come with only suitcases, they need help with the expense of setting up a home, and living expenses until they can get jobs in the area. The first family of four has recently arrived and is being settled in Loma Linda. Please help with start-up rental and living assistance.

We praise God for the following projects that are made possible by generous donations to WMI. You may choose whichever project you wish to support.

  • Afghan Rehab Services (P Guptill):  Former Afghan ADRA workers, who were victims of terrorist abuse, have been evacuated and resettled in Loma Linda. These dear folk risked their lives to serve in ADRA clinics and women's health facilities. When the Taliban took over the country, they were terrorized and had to escape. After spending two or more years in refugee camps, we were able to assist with their resettlement here in Loma Linda. These families are eager to become self-sufficient as soon as possible. However, they need continuing help with rent, utilities, education and transportation until they can get established. Your donations to WMI Afghan Rehab Services will be greatly appreciated.
  • AIIAS Fund:  The Seventh-day Adventist Church recognizes the urgent need to train leaders for its work throughout Asia and beyond which is financially easier on budgets and yet provides the highest level of graduate education focused on mission. Students from over 60 countries come to AIIAS in the Philippines, seeking training to serve their educational, medical, and church institutions back home.  About half of AIIAS students are self-supporting students who have invested everything to train to serve their church.  They often need student aid to get them through. Your help is an investment in the future of our Church.  Please give through WMI to AIIAS Student Aid and pray for these future leaders. Also, there are some outreach programs that often need some funding to carry out their activities in other countries as part of their training. WMI accepts donations to help with such expenses in AIIAS. In many ways, this is an investment in church ministry, paying it forward. Please join us in helping such individuals to complete their higher education so they can return to serve the Lord with renewed enthusiasm and education. Experience the joy of investing in the future leadership of our church in faraway places.
  • Appleton Fund: Students that go overseas get a wider world view of missions and have a greater appreciation of other cultures. WMI supports such ventures and other related projects.
  • Bibles for India (B4I): “I will send a famine through the land — not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord” (Amos 8:11). Imagine the impact of Bibles with additional study helps made available in the most widely spoken languages of India? A printing press dedicated for this purpose will cost approximately $200,000. There are over 1.5 billion South Asians around the world that will benefit from B4I. There is no better time than now!
  • Family Social Services (J McGhee): Often new immigrants to the United States, especially refugees, need guidance and counselling as they try to assimilate into the new environment and culture. WMI works with special agencies to provide such services by using funds from this account.
  • Library Books for Philippines: WMI is raising funds to send quality children’s library books to many SDA Elementary Schools in the Philippines.  Your donations will help purchase and ship new and used books including My Bible Friends, Forever Stories and Guide’s Greatest Stories. Donations of good books are also accepted.
  • General Fund: WMI is dedicated to sharing God’s love by promoting healthcare, Christian education, and economic development projects around the world. Requests that are not part of the designated projects must be approved by the WMI Board and are supported by the general funds.
  • Health Education & Media (HE&M): Media is one way of spreading the Gospel to the South Asians around the world. WMI supports the gospel work and health education in 16 Indian languages through media. The average cost for HE&M is $36,000 per year.
  • Jerry Hoyle Fund: It will be used for specific needs of the music ministry at the Loma Linda University Church.
  • Lakpahana Funds: Established in 1923, Lakpahana Adventist College and Seminary has been instrumental in educating and preparing workers to serve in Sri Lanka and abroad. The alumni, former missionaries who served there, and well-wishers are working to support the industrial development and vocational training program at Lakpahana – the only Seventh-day Adventist boarding institution in an Island of 20 million people.
  • LSB Korean TV: “Light and Salt Broadcasting” (LSB) was launched in 2018 to spread the Good News to the Korean-speaking people through television. Your prayers and support for this ministry will be instrumental in shining the light of Jesus Christ on many who are looking for light. By the power of the Holy Spirit, despite all the hurdles and persecutions that we see around us, “the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the entire world as a witness, and then shall the end come.” That also includes the Korean-speaking people!
  • Newbold: The Newbold College Councilors have set up a fund to support that College in England.
  • Nicola Memorial Dental Funds: It supports the dental mission around the world with a goal of establishing new dental clinics or equipping existing clinics according to the recommendations of the Department of Health Ministries of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
  • Thailand Project: It covers various services such as assisting the elderly, promoting child development, providing clean water and sanitation, and supporting healthcare services in the rural and urban areas of Thailand.
  • Yerba Buena: There is a Wellness Center along with many literature evangelists selling literature in Yerba Buena, Chiapas, Mexico. The literature evangelists purchase the literature they are going to sell.  WMI collects funds to help these poor people as they share the gospel through literature ministry.
